Task:

Your task is to develop a neuroscientific research proposal related to drug addiction and abuse that demonstrates your knowledge of the subject, research abilities, and competence to apply learned information to novel topics. Though the research may be arduous, you have been given great flexibility in developing a study.

Your research proposal should adhere to the following general guidelines:

Should be 7-10 pages in length
Follow the outline of a scholarly article – scientific method
Include references in either APA or AMA citation formats

You should not feel pressured to mold your study to a popular or "hot" scientific line of research. Your aim is to find an area of drug addiction and abuse that requires additional investigation or validation (or an entirely novel study). As long as you can reasonably justify your proposal, you can pursue that line of inquiry.

Scientists in all professions must perform basic research with seemingly mundane tasks; however, their work will serve as the foundation for future studies by a host of biomedical researchers and may find its way into a general textbook. Perhaps, your proposal may introduce you into the wonders of biomedical research, and the prestige and pride of contributing to an immensely important cause.
