Scholarly Article Indices:

There a few methods to accessing articles published in academic journals:

  • Consult your school's library for electronic access.
  • Consult open-access journals for free, full-text articles (see the Directory of Open Access Journals).
  • Visit PubMed from the US National Library of Medicine for a comprehensive abstract database and some have full-text articles online.

If you are unfamiliar with the difference between popular and scientific articles, please consult a comparison article by Weber State University.

Outline

In general, your proposal should consist of the following outline:

Abstract

Introduction

  • Background
  • Purpose of Study (Rationale)
  • Hypothesis (Expectations)

Method

  • Subjects
  • Measures/Apparatus
  • Procedure
  • Data Analysis

Results/Discussion (Though you won't have results, please identify findings that would support your hypothesis, any limitations you anticipate, and areas for further validation or research)
