Conclusion:

Congratulations! You have reached the conclusion of this WebQuest.

Hopefully, you have learned a great deal about neuroscience, research methods, drug addiction, and interpreting scholarly articles. Next time, when you are reading an article or textbook that references scientific research, backtrack the likely process the author(s) took from surveying articles, determining an area in need of research, producing a proposal, implementing experiments, recording and analyzing data, and finally publishing in academic journals.

Your journey is not over for this WebQuest, for you have endowed a critical (and knowledgeable) eye in neuroscience.  For information on graduate study and careers in neuroscience, please visit the Society for Neuroscience resource links.  Whether you pursue additional study or work into neuroscience or not, remember that your ingenuity in the form of a proposal has the potential to improve diagnostics and/or treatment options for a serious public health concern, drug addiction.  You are capable of expanding the world's knowledge base in any subject; for validation, just read any article in Breakthroughs: Science, Technology, Innovation.
